We are pleased to announce that our colleague Philippe Barré, professor at the School of Industrial Relations of the Université de Montréal and member of CRIMT, has obtained funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) under the “Partnership Engage Grants” program.
The funding was granted for a project involving a partnership with the Strategic Initiatives Department of the Conseil des Arts de Montréal. With the objective of evaluating and reorienting the funding policies of cultural organizations, the project consists of studying emerging forms of artists’ associations and groups that implement new mechanisms of governance, organization and resource sharing. Thirty case studies will be carried out within this framework.
This project is very much in line with CRIMT’s scientific program. Indeed, it will identify, analyze and evaluate emerging forms of organizational and institutional experimentation put forward by Montreal’s art companies. These experiments are the result of a mobilization of the resources and capacities available to the actors in these sectors, from which they develop new forms of organization and solidarity that are likely to improve the conditions under which they realize their activities. These are numerous and implement very interesting modalities of governance, sharing of resources, etc.
Congratulations to Philippe and his team.
